1953 Studebaker Commander Starliner Hardtop, to be exact. Generically known to car enthusiasts as the Loewy Coupes, these Studebakers broke new ground for design. Raymond Loewy’s design firm was contracted by Studebaker to design this new line of cars, and his name is always associated with it. But a gentleman by the name of Robert Bourke, working for Loewy, actually did the lion’s share of the work on this brilliant design.
