In 1964, my friend and I traveled from Greenville, NC to Hillsborough, NC to attend a race at the 9/10 mile dirt track there. We arrived pretty early, so we could see all the race cars come in . My friend recognized a yellow Plymouth that he had seen in a garage down the block from his aunt’s house. The car turned out to be owned by Louis Weathersbee, and driven by LeeRoy Yarbrough. We gave him some of our fried chicken and Hawaiian Punch, and we had a friend for life! This painting was done from a photo I shot myself.
